Layovers In Philadelphia

If you are ever layed over at the Philadelphia Airport or are looking for a fun day trip, downtown Philadelphia is an easy commute from the airport.

The Septa train can transport you from the airport to Center City Philadelphia. The cost is $5.50 dollars one way and runs every 30 minutes in both directions. The commute takes about 20 minutes. Please check the website for additional information regarding schedules.

I have taken the commute many times and have enjoyed many day trips to Philadelphia, with and without my children. The city in easy to navigate through, and is on a grid system, like the streets in Erie. Downtown has great shopping on Walnut and Chestnut streets between 11th - 18th streets. The zoo is an easy destination, although you would need to connect to a bus route.

So, if you have a few hours in Philadelphia, jump on the train and visit the city. Market East Station has a Hard Rock Cafe and many other food vendors to grab yourself a Philly Steak Sub, and ride back to the airport with enough time to catch your flight.

So my secret here is to go and be adventerous.
